Candle 101

Candle Care:

 Before Lighting:

Trim the wick: It is important to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch after each burn before lighting. This helps to prevent the flame from getting too large and causing the candle to burn too quickly.
Keep in sight: Never leave a burning candle unattended. It is important to keep an eye on the candle at all times while it is burning.
Keep the wax pool clear: Make sure to keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches, and debris at all times. This can help prevent any accidental fires.

While Burning:
Burn on flat, stable, fireproof surface.
Keep away from flammable objects, children, and pets: Make sure to keep the candle away from anything that could catch fire, as well as out of reach of children and pets.
Burn your candle so the wax pool reaches the jar edge: To prevent wax tunneling, it is important to burn your candle so that the wax pool reaches the edge of the jar. This will ensure that all the wax is used and not wasted.
Container will be hot when lit.
Do not burn longer than 3 hours at a time.

First Burn:

Burn long enough to prevent tunneling: To prevent tunneling, it is important to burn the candle long enough on the first burn so that the wax is fully melted all the way to the edge of the jar.

Extinguishing:

Never blow out a candle: Instead of blowing out a candle, use a snuffer or a wick dipper to extinguish it. This helps to prevent hot wax from splattering.
Stop use when only 1/4 inch of wax remains: Once there is only 1/4 inch of wax left in the jar, it is time to stop using the candle.
